Building mental strength requires you to do some exercise just as building physical strength. It is just like any other skill. Doing regular practice will help you to strengthen your mind. Make small changes and stick with it.

1.   Learn Something New Every Week
Following the same routine makes the brain patterns fixed. Try to get those old neural paths wired again by learning new activities. Learn how to play guitar, play chess or any other activity. More regularly you pickup new activities more strong your mind becomes. Try to pick up one new thing every week and continue working on it as you learn new things. It will help you in building new neural pathways for your mind.

2.   Start Reading
According to a study people who enjoy reading novels are more easily able to empathize with others which is a sign of strong and well rounded mind. Start reading a variety of things you that you enjoy.  You don't have to start reading anything too difficult for you. Instead, focus on reading things you enjoy. Westerns, romance novels are good to read. Invest the time that you might normally spend idling, chatting with friends, or watching the tube in reading a good book.

3.   Socialize More
Social intelligence and wit are important parts of all-around mental health and well-being. If you are the one who can't carry on a conversation, meet new people and work on your communication skills. Have healthy and complicated conversation instead of gossips. If you are a school or college going just don't stick to one group but move around.

4.   Challenge Yourself
  Get yourself out from the comfort zone and try doing the things you are not sure you will be able to pull off. . Decide that you're not only going to play chess, but that you're going to study openings and learn to play like a grandmaster. Keep working on a task until you're at the difficult setting.
